I had good first two years, really enjoyed. Then my reporting manager changed (he was new hire) and things started falling off - still I could continued for 2 more years, before being asked to go for no reason (was told there was no new work for me!!!). I was told by CEO that my performance was great, but they had financial issues - though the new investors were coming in, and the company got the next round of finances within 3 months of my exit. It was sort of set up for removing me. Being remote, I did not get a clue about it, it was all sudden. I don't think any company succeeds that fires its top performing people.
