Pros

Catalyst is a team-oriented company where specialists in different subject matter areas collaborate to develop some very innovative community-enhancing projects. The company is structured in a manner such that we all benefit from the success of one another. Our success requires that each employee carries his/her own weight (and that burden can be significant); but at the same time, because of the team approach, we all help each other rise to the occasion. Catalyst is the place to join if you're interested in challenging work that brings out the best of your potential. Everyone contributes to the process and is expected to be prepared for every day's tasks; and each day presents new and different challenges. It is not a typical corporate environment. It is never boring.

Cons

The projects we undertake take many months to develop, and require grit and perseverance to see them through to fruition. This is not the place to work if you seek instant gratification. This is also not the place to work if you want to glide on your laurels (everyone at Catalyst works hard, from the CEO to the support staff). A job at Catalyst is most certainly not 9 to 5 work. I do not recommend employment at Catalyst to anyone seeking to enhance their work-life balance.

Pros

The people here have a rare combination of competence and diligence that makes the environment a dynamic and fun place to work. The Company's leadership is very involved (without micro-managing) and gives timely feedback on performance. The training program will make you and expert - and productive for your team - very quickly.

Cons

The hours are long and the pace is fast, which can require some time to adjust. Joining the company can initially feel like being shot out of a cannon - especially if you are coming from a slower-paced environment. The firm's ethos is one of brutal honesty and negative feedback is rarely sugar-coated.
