Pros

-The children and their families are the best part of this job -Your coworkers are nice people who care about the children they work with and about you. -The company gives presents & a small cash bonus during teacher appreciation week -Small gifts throughout the year if the company feels like you are high performing employee

Cons

The pay structure is predatory and there can be a lack of transparency related to pay when you are onboarded -employees with college degrees can make between $15-20hr -employees without a college degree can make between $13-17hr The pay is structured off a “bonus system” if you meet the criteria for each bonus (love worth $1hr, $1hr respect,$2hr integrity,$ 1hr creativity/curriculum ) you may get paid up to $17 or $20 an hour. If you don’t meet the criteria you will ultimately get paid less and your pay will fluctuate between pay periods. If you call out sick you will not qualify for the $2hr integrity bonus. The curriculum bonus is the hardest to make and curriculum is the least explained/ trained on, which seems unfair. During your interview or onboarding they will tell you most teachers make the full $17 or $20hr easily, this is not true. The company makes it seem like they inherently mistrust their employees and that you have to prove you are a decent person in order to make a livable wage. -Extremely high teacher turnover One classroom can see over 5 different teachers in a year. Schools are chronically under staffed and there is no long term stability for most of the children. -The school holidays are not long enough to give teachers adequate breaks. You work on Christmas Eve. -You do not accumulate PTO, after a year you gain only 5 paid time off days and if a coworker is off, you will not be allowed to take that same day off. All other days you put in will not be paid. You will not be paid for sick days if you are sick more than 5 times in a year. You will only get paid 3 out of 7 days for winter break if you are in your first year of employment. -There are no real benefits. 401k only vests after 3 years with the company. -If you pass your probationary period of 90 days and you decide the company is not a good fit and want to leave you will have to pay back all of your paid holidays. After 90 days they will lock you into a year long contract. -Upper management seems oblivious as to why teachers are quitting. They do not listen to employee feedback. -Some of the locations are really old and need to be updated/ have maintenance performed and are put on the back burner
