Pros

Good money to be made when jobs/weather are in your favour.

Cons

There is no minimum salary which gives you a safety net on what you earn each week. Not for the faint hearted. Expected to know exactly what you have to do after 6 weeks

Unorganised

Pros

Good money to be made if you meet your bonus targets. All tools supplied. Company vehicle and fuel card. Bonus at Christmas. Holiday pay based on your average daily income.

Cons

The most unorganised company I have ever worked for. Poor communication between managers which leads to things not being done. Always moving the goalposts to save money, which sometimes effects your pay. Only 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays. They introduced a rewards scheme for employees, they used it for a month and then couldn't be bothered anymore. Obviously a brain box idea to prove to the big balls at the top table that they have incentive schemes for the minions on the ground to work harder. If customer rings in now with a good review of an employee or workmanship now, it's just ignored.

Pros

None please try and avoid at all costs

Cons

If you have an interview with this company, think very carefully before proceeding. This is one of the most toxic and unsupportive workplaces I have ever experienced. The culture is driven entirely by money, with no regard for people. Subcontractors are allowed to take advantage unchecked, favoritism and backhand deals are widespread, and senior management consistently avoids accountability by throwing employees under the bus whenever mistakes occur. HR is undertrained and unprofessional, and their repeated errors have directly contributed to staff being placed under extreme stress, with some even forced to take stress leave. Instead of addressing these issues, the company tries to cover them up or deflect responsibility. Redundancies are common, not because of genuine business needs, but because of poor decisions and costly mistakes made at the senior management level. These are then disguised as ‘cost-saving measures,’ when in reality they are the result of mismanagement. Contracts are written with heavy emphasis on small print that benefits the company alone, leaving staff vulnerable. There is no sense of humanity, support, or accountability at any level of leadership. Employee wellbeing is not even a consideration — the focus is purely on extracting as much as possible at the expense of both staff and the business’s integrity. For your own mental health and professional dignity, avoid this company at all costs. It will drain you, demoralize you, and offer nothing in return
