Pros

Compensation was slightly above average. Some co-workers were decent people.

Cons

I can not stress enough what a terrible workplace this was. Their rigorous interview process inspired confidence at first but becomes questionable at a certain point and is nothing short of regrettable after accepting the job. They lure you in with talk of their "core values" and "work-life balance" and all of the wonderful things that await you. ...and once you are in? What a horror show. Most staff are cautiously friendly but you quickly realize that many of them are scared stiff. Why? Because most of them have seen how the sausage is made. In spite of their claims about employee satisfaction and retention, it's easy to see how many people have come and gone. Any talk of "values" from the management is not just false advertising, it's the iron fist in a velvet glove. Management will talk the talk but when it comes down to it, some of the most heartless human behavior I have witnessed in the workplace occurred at ClubRunner - and I've been around the block. Sometimes it was subtle, sometimes it was very overt but employees are undermind and pitted one against the other in various ways. Want to survive at ClubRunner? Lay low. Do not do anything that might be perceived as "outshining" anyone. If you are asked for input and want to keep the job? Smile and nod and tell them how wonderful things are. Nothing more, nothing less. Leaving ClubRunner was among the best career moves I have made and I can not caution people enough about staying away from this place. The compensation was slightly above average but what's it really worth when you dread coming to work? Unless you are completely desperate, I would not waste the time and effort that it takes to stay alive in there.

This appears to be a misdirected review for another company as we do not have that title position and the comments made do not resonate with our culture and feedback from past and current employees. If this is a genuine review about ClubRunner (located in Oakville, ON, Canada), then I’m truly sorry you feel that way and did not have a positive experience. We are passionate about our culture and selective about those we hire to join our stellar team. As a growing and innovative company, we offer opportunities for growth and advancement, and that demands top talent. Our people are highly accomplished and exceedingly good at what they do. They are also caring and thoughtful human beings who operate in a high-trust and cooperative environment without drama or politics. There is no tolerance for undermining one another, nor is there an incentive to do so. Those who thrive here are passionate and highly-driven to learn and grow and love what they do. We do have a rigorous interview process and assess both technical skills and culture fit. Unfortunately, sometimes we make the wrong hire and need to make the difficult decision to part ways, with respect and compassion and no surprises. Everyone deserves to be happy and fulfilled at work. I'm glad to know that you are now in a position that better fits you and your talent and wish you all the best. Sincerely, Sarah Asterbadi, CEO

Pros

Sometime give you a free pizza as lunch.

Cons

Husband as CEO, wife as accounting, three girls as marketing and admin. Cannot see any career room for employees. They didn't trust technology developers and a lot of micro management. No great business strategy, no way to further grow up. Except getting your salary and go home, you cannot expect any further career growing in such small family business.

I'm sorry you had an unsuccessful experience at ClubRunner. There's lots of inaccuracies in your review. We greatly value the contributions of our team (23 and growing), and retain people who exemplify our culture of passion, positivity, and continuous improvement. All team members who succeed develop their careers and thrive. The company is on the Profit 500 list of fastest-growing companies in Canada, and has received industry recognition, all a result of everyone's incredible work and contributions. That said, our environment is not for everyone. Those who succeed here are driven and fully-engaged team players. We hate micro-management (we're too busy for that) and it's typically a red flag of someone who is not a good fit.
