Pros
When I first started, before the change it was an awesome place to work and make money. They would pay you extra money to go do help routes and do whatever it took to get the routes up. Managers would jump in trucks or on the back of trucks to help out. Management were leaders not just managers. They would lead by example. It was a place where they got their hands dirty as well and earned lots of respect. I was proud to say I worked at CWD. I was planning on retiring from the company and through I was a true lifer.
Cons
Owners and senior management change company direction. They changed house count, lowered what each can paid, stopped giving extra pay, cut overtime, threatened profit sharing by adding new rules and restrictions every two or three months. They made is 2-3x harder to make the same money that you once could make and eventually became impossible to make the same. Some managers were jealous because drivers who did the actual work made more than the managers. The maintenance department fell on their face and trucks would just stop running in the middle of the highway as you were driving down 635/75 or wherever. The response time from roadside mechanics was terrible. When roadside should of been on the way to a truck the guys would play games on their phone and take extra breaks. No extra trucks in the yard because of maintenance so when your truck is down, you just have to go home. They never give people a raise. It use to be in writing on your offer letter that you would get paid the greater of a dollar per hour rate of the commission rate but they changed it to commission only so they could cut pay by cutting what each can paid slowly until they get you where they want you to be. They don't help pay for benefits. Super expensive. The GM has relationships with employees. Pretty much dead end. No room for promotions. Your paycheck is always different and they short you.
