Pros

I was able to learn about an aspect of IT that I didn't know about before. My experience in the companies that computer care had me contracted out to looked great on my CV

Cons

For the past few days I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should write this review or not. Originally I decided that I wasn’t going to bother burning bridges on the way out, but after hearing about some snide and bitter comments made toward myself and other ex-employee by our old manager I thought that this review is deserved. I worked in one of ComputerCare’s remote sites for about 9 months. We didn’t really have any management staff in our office so we were managed, no micromanaged, from HQ which was 8 time zones away and although the distance wasn’t their fault they didn’t try to make it any easier. We would receive constant criticism from management about all aspects of our job. We used to joke when we came in the morning about how many passive aggressive emails we had received the night before and who had the most. When management did come over to see us though they were all smiles about how great we doing and to keep up the good work but they never asked us how we were doing or if there was any way they could make our lives a little bit easier. I remember once, when our VP came over, I hadn’t seen this person in a long time and I sat down for a one to one and she literally said ‘I have no feedback for you’ that's it, nothing. I never felt that they cared about me as a person, the just cared about the work I could do.

Pros

- If you don't care about your job or can fake incompetency, you can coast reasonably well, especially if you brown-nose leadership and chat them up enough - decent benefits despite the rest of the job - If you like being left in the dark regarding internal processes or just general inquiries, sign right up. You'll ask management so many questions to be told 3/4 times that they don't know or can't disclose that information (usually due to SLA or other corporate aphorisms) - lots of down time / time you can get away with slacking with no repercussions, due to the lack of visibility by management

Cons

- No career progression unless you are willing to be taken advantage of without proper recourse/compensation for 3-12 months, depending on your review timing. They don't have the visibility to even recognize meritable actions that shine as an example their mission statement "the human side of hardware". What a joke. - Absolutely shameful IT stack & tech usage despite being an MSP - technical knowledge seems to be non-existent despite the scope of the work with management ; I've seen many technically competent people leave this place since there is no place for trying to excel as they will dangle carrots in front of you and constantly backpedal with usual corporate jargon/excuses
