Pros

Flexible Time Policy Standard hike

Cons

My strongest recommendation to anyone considering joining this company: I advise against it. Allow me to share my personal experience of over a year: This company, based in Bangalore and Chennai, falls short of expectations for a product-based organization. The absence of well-defined policies and a distinct company culture makes for a challenging work environment. Unfortunately, you may encounter individuals who exhibit unethical behavior and take advantage of others. I urge you to exercise caution and not be swayed solely by monetary incentives. Since it is privately owned, the company operates within a controlled environment, which can foster a mindset of cost-cutting at the expense of employee well-being. Engineering Managers and Product Managers have been promoted through luck rather than merit, resulting in a hostile atmosphere. Furthermore, the absence of VP-level presence on-site, with most situated in the US or UK, leads to a lack of accountability. The support team, including the Head, HR, and VP, appears to be disconnected from the day-to-day happenings within the company. On a positive note, the CEO, CTO, and IT support team exhibit professionalism and competence. VP-level employees seem to be excessively occupied with trivial matters, while managers perpetuate favoritism, racism, and office politics. Regrettably, only a small fraction of senior developers possess the required skills, while the rest struggle. Overall, the majority of employees endure unfavorable circumstances. Please take these factors into consideration before making a decision.

Pros

Conde Nast India: Industry first in adopting new platforms and technology in the publishing world. Pivoted to digital media, marketing and content years before competitors. Big budget for video content, award shows, and a solid reputation in the luxury brands circle.

Cons

Conde Nast India: Where to begin? The work environment is highly toxic, political, discriminatory, and is run by the elite South Bombay residents. No timely appraisals or systematic review process. Most of us end up taking paycuts while joining and are asked to wait for a couple of years until salaries are hiked. There's a practice of Editors yelling/using unprofessional language, being derogatory and demeaning to junior writers, and bartering off-the-book favours in exchange for editorial coverage. It's an elitist company and attrition rates are high.

Pros

Decent pay at joining (but that's where the generosity ends) Office space is nice if you're into aesthetics over actual work culture

Cons

Silent Layoffs in Progress: The company has mastered the art of cutting costs without making headlines. Strict HR policies are designed to push employees out without officially firing them. Non-Existent Career Growth: If you're in India, forget about climbing the ladder. All decision-making power is hoarded by the US and UK offices. The highest position you'll see in India is a manager pretending to be a leader. Leadership Exodus: Top managers leave faster than new employees can learn their names. Every few months there's a re-org because the company itself doesn't know what it wants to be. Not a Tech Company, Just a Digital Magazine: The company sells itself as a tech-driven media company, but 90% of the work is about appeasing magazine editors and posting updates in Slack groups. Time Over Talent: The biggest metric for success here is clocking in your hours. It doesn't matter how productive you are — what matters is that you sit at your desk long enough to be seen.
