Pros

I've been in and around the restaurant and hospitality industry long enough to know that the back office is where great operators either win or lose. That's why I joined Craftable, and that's why I'm still ALL IN. This company was built by people who genuinely care. The co-founders created something powerful, and that foundation shows up every day in how we work. Our Co-founder/ CTO, Max has built an amazing product with a talented team. I'll be honest. Watching them push the limits of what AI can do inside a restaurant operation is something I don't take for granted. They're brilliant, kind, and they're helping build a culture where innovation isn't a buzzword, it's Tuesday. To the people who've been here through the growth and the growing pains, thank you. Change is hard. You showed up anyway, and that matters more than you know. We're building toward something specific: a world where restaurateurs and chefs can spend less time buried in spreadsheets and more time doing what they actually love. That's what gets our team out of bed in the morning and it's what keeps us focused on the work that matters. Our values aren't wall art. Win as one team. Radical hospitality. Take ownership. Communicate with clarity and respect. Focus on customer value. We talk about them, we hire for them, and we hold each other to them. If you care about hospitality and you want to work somewhere that's genuinely trying to move an industry forward, this is a good place to do that.

Cons

Is it perfect here? No. We're growing, and growth asks hard things of everyone. But we try to make every decision with intention and respect, and we don't take any of it lightly. The people here have a collaborative spirit that's hard to find. They share ideas openly, they pick each other up, and they genuinely want to see everyone around them succeed. That's not something you can manufacture. Where we're still growing is consistency in delivery. Our customers are busy restaurateurs and hoteliers trying to run a profitable operation while learning new systems and processes. They deserve excellence every time, and we don't always get there. We're working hard to build the processes that close that gap because they're counting on us.

Thank you for sharing your experience. With over three years at Craftable, your feedback is meaningful to our team. We are glad work-life balance and unlimited PTO stood out. Those reflect a real commitment to our team’s wellbeing and flexibility. On resourcing, we make deliberate decisions about headcount to balance sustainability with the needs of a growing business. These are not easy decisions, but they are made with care for both our team and the long-term health of the company. On policies, we agree this is an area that requires clarity. As we scale, processes do evolve, but that should not come at the expense of consistency or understanding. We are actively working to improve how we communicate changes so expectations are clear. On culture, we see it a bit differently. Building a company while scaling product and team requires change, and culture can feel different in those moments. Our focus is on building something that is authentic, supportive, and grounded in the reality of the people doing the work every day. We appreciate the note on honoring policies. That is fair feedback, and one we take seriously. If you are open to sharing more specifics, our HR team would welcome the conversation.

Cons

I am a former employee. The punchline is that I wouldn't recommend quitting a job to work for Craftable. If you are unemployed, it would suffice as a short term opportunity. However, there is very little chance you will last more than 6 months -- whether you leave voluntarily or you are let go. Retention is extremely poor at this company. The problems start at the top and work their way down. Ownership is a typical private equity firm that is focused only on revenue and EBITDA growth. As a result, Craftable is essentially a chop shop. There is constant turnover, mainly due to endless workforce reductions (aka people being fired). The reductions impact both long standing employees and new hires. There are monthly reviews of headcount and the question is always "Where can we trim the fat?". The expertise of the management team is mediocre. Some have been in the hospitality industry quite a while. However, none seem to understand how to run a company. Operations are led by a CFO who is in way over her head. She doesn't like to admit it when she's wrong and she tends to panic over minor issues. Sadly, it seems like she takes pride in being disliked by the rest of the team. There are some decent folks that work at the company. However, almost everyone realizes that their position can be eliminated unexpectedly and tend to focus on self preservation -- as opposed to doing what is best for the company or their teammates. If you made it this far, I would like to stress that my post isn't because I'm disgruntled. I'm currently employed at a new company and it is a significant improvement over Craftable. My motive for this post is to hopefully lessen the chance that someone will give up an existing role and instantly regret making the move. My advice, reach out to some of the former employees and confirm whether my comments are accurate. Best of luck.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We respect that your experience led you in a different direction, and we understand the intent to help others make informed decisions. We do want to provide additional context for those reading. On retention, our annualized retention rate is 83.8%, and improving that number continues to be a priority. Like many companies in high growth technology, we have made changes along the way, but those decisions are made thoughtfully with a focus on building a sustainable business and supporting our customers long term. We are also intentional about where we invest. Craftable was built to push the hospitality industry forward, and that requires a significant commitment to engineering and product development. That focus on innovation and building modern, operator first technology is a big part of what attracted our financing partner and continues to shape how we grow. We are confident in our leadership team and the direction of the company. It is fair for individuals to have different experiences or preferences, but we will not engage in personal characterizations here. What we are building is not easy. Hospitality operators deserve better tools, and delivering on that requires constant evolution in both our product and how we operate as a company. For those considering Craftable, we encourage you to speak directly with current team members and hear their experiences firsthand. If you would like to share more detailed feedback, our HR team is always open to listening.
