I have been working at Critical Software full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Critical understands the value of doing things the right way. Strong values and talent development go hand in hand with the success of the business. Company managers are very human in their approach and treat people as individuals, not as a number. The working environment encourages innovative thinking and ideas are very much welcomed.

      Cons

It's quite a challenge to becoming familiar with a lot of different industries. Getting to know everyone in the company when people work in different offices is also a challenge.

      Advice to Management

Continue to keep the focus on the human touch as we continue to grow.

I have been working at Critical Software full-time for more than a year

      Pros

There are two main positive things about critical software: you are paid to learn. You'll have access to several training sessions, conferences, workshops and most of the time you can choose or suggest the ones to attend. Another great thing is the people. Or at least, the majority of them. A culture and work environment is made by people and you'll feel a friendly environment where people are always ready to support...

      Cons

The noise in the open spaces can be a real problem that seems to be ignored by management. Sometimes it's so hard to keep concentration that people just opt to work from home. Another con is the salaries that obviously are not aligned with functions and responsibilities. Yes, there is an annual bonus for everyone, but that should not work as an excuse to hide the reality - we are underpaid compared to other companies...

      Advice to Management

Review your remote culture. Remote work can't be used only as marketing to hiring. Having multi-geographical teams it's good when it works properly. People are not numbers and eventually, you need them as much as they need you.

I have been working at Critical Software full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Relaxed work environment. Great community. Fun hangouts after work. People with high skills are recognized within their peers. If you are looking for a great social life, this is the right company for you to join.

      Cons

Noisy work environment at times, which may hinder your concentration on demanding tasks. Low salary for the responsibility that is demanded. There is continuous salary growth if you stay with the company for a while but it isn't efficient. Salary-wise it is better to leave for a company that offers higher pay and return after a while.

      Advice to Management

      Work on better talent retention.

      Pros

CSW has a very open and friendly atmosphere, they promote a relaxed and flexible atmosphere and try their best to align company needs with personal goals. The company is small in the UK so there is the opportunity to try different roles and find a niche.

      Cons

      Limited formal training opportunities.

      Advice to Management

Embrace employees willingness to learn and hold formal and frequent training.

      Pros

Nice colleagues, Oporto office is right next to the metro station, outsourcing / nearshoring to large international companies.

      Cons

Salary below market average, you may have to work abroad for an indeterminate amount of time, penny-pinching at the employee expense, lack of vision / experience from inbread managers
