Pros

Nice small quite town in Texas. If your ok with working for a revolving door company, this is the place for you.

Cons

Beware of this place, it’s a little transit agency with a lot of smoke and mirrors. The leadership has only been in control’s for a little over two years. They hire plenty of people from the outside with the promise of wanting to grow with new ideas. If you are a person who likes to ask questions about the company - my advice is to don’t ask anything, don’t speak on past experiences - nothing just keep quiet. Not a place to make work acquaintances. Management tries to RULE with the AT WILL law. If you are unrepresented and salary just be ready to be treated and paid to do a million things. Also, there are no signs of DEI so if you are of a certain race / gender/ ethnicity be careful. The times of old do still exist. The people of color in management are just there for show, they really don’t have any real value. Last but not least, to anyone who applies from out of town. Reevaluate your job search and delete DCTA - they won’t appreciate you unless your of a certain persuasion ( Karen). Oh and this place has a little over 50 bus operators with the same number of routes, 1 garage and buses that are outdated.

Pros

No pros based on my experience here.

Cons

This place has no stability. Bus routes are always changing, and nothing feels consistent. They can’t keep drivers, so service is constantly affected. The numbers don’t always feel real. It often seems like things are made to look better than they actually are. Meanwhile, they’re trying to expand to other cities when Denton itself isn’t even under control. Technology is outdated or missing, and the facilities are in bad shape. Employees are expected to make it work with very little support. Turnover is extremely high. People are brought in to fix things, and then they’re gone. It’s a repeating cycle, and nothing ever really improves. Leadership focuses more on appearances than real issues. Having leadership dress up as hourly employees (mechanics, drivers, etc.) and call it “engagement” comes across as out of touch and honestly feels belittling. It doesn’t fix anything. Recognition at board meetings is treated like motivation, but it feels empty when real problems are ignored. A lot of people are leaving, and more are on their way out. For me, leaving was the best decision I could have made.

Pros

There are many capable, hardworking people here who truly care about serving the community. The organization’s potential is tremendous, especially if leadership starts empowering the people who actually make the work happen. Real leadership is important but here it almost not there.

Cons

The core issue is ineffective leadership. My direct manager had no prior experience managing people and even admitted she never wanted to. Feedback often missed the mark, reflecting inexperience rather than performance. Senior leadership frequently calls itself “a work in progress,” but the constant turnover tells a different story. Innovation isn’t embraced. I was criticized for using AI—a tool used by over 150 million people monthly in 2025. Instead of fostering progress, leadership tends to view initiative and competence as threats. When ego outweighs collaboration, people lose motivation.
