Wage Theft

Pros

In theory, great money working festivals. There’s truth to this when you work the event....however....

Cons

However at the event you will be asked to pool all cash tips. Then, they will ask you to count your money. But at the end of the night they just tell you to throw all the money into a bin anyway. They steal a huge portion of your credit card tips, and only pay it to you when you call them incessantly for weeks and even then they will try their hardest not to pay you. Shady company, I’m filing a report with the labor department and I strongly encourage everyone who works any event to count your credit card tips like I did and take screenshots so you have evidence of their wage theft. These people are scum — they justify stealing your tips and exploiting your labor. If you’re going to work for them be vigilant. Count everything. I use a counter app and every tip that I get I add it on the counter. Get evidence and put them through the ringer.

Pros

It’s flexible. Good venues(Hollywood palladium, Wiltern). You’ll see great shows while working, depending on which bar you’re assigned to. Some managers/co-workers were awesome. You’ll make decent $$ for what it is.

Cons

Racism. I’m Black, and once, a manager called me “blackie” to my face(zero repercussions). There was a fellow bartender that used to wear *a confederate flag t-shirt* to work(zero repercussions). Managers would steal tips, and there was a lot of drug use/clique-ish behavior(the in-crowd got more shifts, etc). Reporting any of this to HR(LOL) meant YOUR position was at-risk. Additionally, they would weaponize their positions to give a bad reference when former employees like myself would seek bartending work elsewhere. These are terrible people. *note to live nation* Your association with DLS at your venues hurts your brand. Please reconsider doing business with them.

There are no pros for this company.

Cons

HR is useless, only there to protect the company. Leadership is terrible.
