The "D" stands for drama. For example, I once heard students gossiping about teachers and when I asked them not spread rumors they said " No, it's true. My dad's friends with the school board member and I heard them talk about it." There are pockets of Decatur Royalty that can be quite entitled. Effective administrators can struggle as leaders as everyone is resistant to change. A principal once got push back for asking teachers to submit lesson plans! This is neither a pro or con but good to understand ->the community is very economically diverse; some families are millionaires while others live on welfare.

Good ole boys mentality. Not provided what you need to teach successfully (curriculum, technology). Not as many resources as larger neighboring districts.
