It was like working for Willy Wonka (delusional, deranged and on the verge of slave labour)
Pros
Great location, lots of places to eat on your break (but be quick because your breaks were logged - to the second). - cutting edge industry
Cons
- Completely unprofessional environment. - Bottlenecked by the CEO CONSTANTLY, with unhelpful upper management (upper management on paper, really). - Absolutely no praise for work well done but the first to be scrutinized for minuscule mistakes or hiccups. - CEO's vision was constantly changing to the point where employees had to practically read his mind to do the job effectively. - CEO completely obsessed with public appearance - Was insulted many times by the CEO - All correspondence (emails and online postings) had to be screened through him - extreme micro management to a ridiculous point (breaks were logged, tasks were logged, was told what emoticons were and weren't allowed on internal communications application) - NO benefits - expected to work 44+ hours without OT (on call on weekends, felt like a slave) - salary was 10k under the median salary for the position - if the employee didn't quit, they were fired or let go. The constant turnover rate is exhausting when trying to build a company. I've never been with a company with that high of a turnover rate.
