      Pros

      Insurance, retirement and flexible schedule (all of which can be found at any other company or agency in Austin).

      Cons

      You will be overworked, underpaid and undervalued. And on top of that, you’ll still have to get a second job. Your pay will not keep up with the cost of living. The workload is insane. Training is confusing and inadequate. Technologies and practices are antiquated and show no signs of changing. There is no incentive to do good work.

      Good health benefits and cool coworkers

      Cons

      This job will overwork you. Cases come in everyday, you will fall behind, and management will be on you. You’ll need to be able to extensively search through hundreds of pages of medical records and be familiar with department policy. I got hired at the worst time as the pandemic hit and there was a paycut. I also did not pass probation.

      Really good benefits and off days. Work stays at work.

      Cons

      Very little pay. You need to be able to handle stress VERY well. You need to learn quickly because not many people will help you. Many micromanagers here. If you get stuck with a bad manager, good luck. VERY understaffed. little opportunities to move up the chain of command.
