Dow is a great organisation but not the Engg center in Chennai. This is completely opposite of Dow culture. Dow is a global company but the engineering center in chennai is hyper local. Lot of data entry work.

Cons

Leaders have spoiled the complete culture. No plans for growth, no plans for training team. No clarity for career growth. Many people here are since very long and so incompetent. But they consider it as loyalty. That is the only thing required for growth here. Once you resign, you will see true colours of this place, and your leader. They will stop talking to you, defame you and won’t even have courtesy of a simple farewell. But till then all the big talks and at every occasion they will say - we are family. No regard for talented experience people joining from other company. So if you are planning to leave a well established job for the fancy name of dow, don’t do the mistake, you will be treated as outsider for ever. No regional diversity, so they don’t bother about people from other state. Promotions are secret and opaque, only to the locals. Leaders don’t care for quality of work, they only care for their KPIs, no effort to get quality work for people. They are satisfied with all the copy paste work. If you are good at engineering, you will become a non performer here as no one will understand the engineering difficulties. Leaders have no insight to differentiate between a quality and non quality work. For them only parameter is hours for a work. Even if you do a pathetic work, but very fast, you will be celebrated. No one cares for quality work. All big talks of safety etc,. And no one to listen to your complains. HR is literally missing. Leaders have no real work knowledge. People never worked in production plants are leading the team. Freshers or inexperienced people find it awesome place as there is not mush work to do. They can play TT all day and no one bothers. But when they realise their time has wasted and not learnt anything in many years, either they struggle and move out or surrender to join the incompetency pool and become loyals. And few years later, the incompetent ones who no one else would hire are promoted for their loyalty. Any suggestion to leaders is considered as rebellion and person will be tagged as problem creator. You will be subjected to harassment, taken off projects and assigned very low profile work way lower than your qualification. The only reason why these incompetent leaders survive here is because there is no real work. Had there been any real work, accountability, they will be forced to promote talent, experience instead of sycophancy, incompetency and loyalty would be the last thing one would boast about.
