It's a good company but don't be fooled
Pros
Excellent place to put a foot in the door for a wildland career. Crew bosses are all acceptional and most of the employees are fantastic people. You'll be trained with professionalism and discipline and expected to work like it. Entry level trainings are probably some of the best for a private company in the area. You'll be paid more than all other private contractors for your time.
Cons
First of all, if there isnt much fire, youre not going to work very much. Second this is a ladder company. Many people fool themselves to think they can make a career at this company and end up burning out. While the crew bosses may be great, the leadership at the higher levels leave much to be desired. For 99% of the company this is just a seasonal job and when opportunities do arise in the off season they are terrible at getting the people who should have those opportunities. There's also zero development at the squad boss level short of what the crew boss"say" you need to work on.
