Difficult to feel valued

Good reputation amongst clients and candidates Regardless of the number of consultants leaving, the business has retained some of their big fee generators There are some exceptional people still working with the business

As the review title says it is difficult to feel valued. Demand around KPIs' expectation, feels less like a business for seasoned professionals to join, management is hard to buy into. Typically saying one thing but actions are complete opposites. Decisions are made without consequences thought through (commission changes were to be implemented but due to the negative uproar, the leadership team had to rethink their tact but unfortunately what came through was the how senior management think - not to motivate but to penalise their staff. No doubt a new ' commission structure' will be announced. There is a genuine concern around whether people feel safe (this comes from their more successful consultants) rather than those not doing so well. A true feeling across the teams of not being valued.

I am of course, disappointed to see you have left the business with a negative outlook and would like to address some of the points you have raised here. As a high performing business we believe it is appropriate to look at certain KPIs as they are fundamental to reviewing sales pipelines and determining where our people may need support and training. Our highest performers meet a certain level of activity and we want to replicate that success across the business. We utilise 4 key metrics only: CVs sent, first stage interviews, client meetings and new jobs. We also monitor conversion levels to ensure quality standards remain high. With regards to commissions, we have benchmarked the industry and have one of the most competitive schemes in the market. Having reviewed all our of incentives this year, we are confident we have a programme that provides all employees the opportunity to earn both financially and otherwise. Pros

Good PSL list, responsive infrastructure due to size, autonomy, experienced senior consultants and some excellent middle management that need to be listened to! Some good tech clients and good potential for this section ;) good luck to my fellow guys here !!

Cons

Autonomy given to staff or is it lazy management? The business struggles to attract good quality hires - big headcount, low productivity.... Good question to those interviewing here. Confused company - insurance or banking or contingent or search? Very little strategy other than that defined by middle management for individual teams resulting in little cross sell and massive gaps in the business. Directors that are known to be lazy by the business but hide the truth very well from the CEO for own self preservation and keeping their position for rumoured sale as a result have lost some good individuals - strangely no one leaves positively or ever returns..... A reputation that seems to sadly be reality. Lots of leavers without explanation and poor business communication has added to the numbers which are on the increase and morale is very low. A business that will struggle to get to the next stage unless middle management are listened to and politics removed.... Limited expenses and very restricted budgets making client entertainment hard to compete In the market, the Directors enjoy spending it in the local restaurants - you can find them there.....

Our people are our most important asset and we’re committed to ensuring we provide everyone the opportunity to be successful in their role, which means making sure our management team are as strong as possible. Whilst there are some kinks to work through as in any growing business, we’re confident in the talent in our business and our continued investment in training. We operate a very mature model at Eames, which means employees are given autonomy to run their desks their own way which is what attracts experienced recruitment consultants to work for us. Attrition is natural in any business and whilst we hate to see great talent go, we’re proud to support people if they want to take on different challenges that we can’t give them such as in-house recruitment. We aim to encourage an open and transparent working environment led by a supportive and credible management team. You are right- they should be listened to, and we’re currently looking at new ways to ensure we get the most from our management meetings and ensure this talented group are empowered to share ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.
