Pros

- Unlimited vacation (as long as your boss isn't constantly out, you can take time off as needed). - The office space is nice and modern.

Cons

Where to begin.. I left this company because when I let my boss know I was pregnant she threatened to demote/fire me. I was forced to go on short term disability because the severe stress she caused me sent me to the hospital. When I brought this to HR, nothing was done about it. Women have made it so far in the work place .. so to be discriminated, harassed and bullied for being pregnant was disgusting and a real set back in overall women's rights. I could no longer work for a company that allowed such behavior so I decided to leave. I had multiple co-workers reach out to me after leaving to let me know they were leaving as well - half of them because of overall company culture, and the other half because of the same person who threatened me. It's disgusting. Do yourself a favor, especially if you are a woman - do not work here. You will probably be harassed or treated unequally at some point as well and no one will help you.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your thoughts on working for ElevateBio. Our people are our greatest asset, and we pride ourselves on creating a cohesive, supportive, and mission-driven culture as we work together in a shared effort to improve and change lives. We are familiar with the situation you describe in your comments, but strongly disagree with your characterization of events. While this is not the appropriate forum to share details, these are the high-level facts: one specific manager handed a request for leave of absence in a manner not up to the company’s standards, and when informed of this, the company, led by Human Resources, took immediate steps to remedy the situation and support the employee at issue; the supervisor is no longer with the company. ElevateBio provides a competitive 12-week paid parental leave benefit, and strongly encourages its employees to make full use of that benefit as they welcome a new child into their lives. We were discouraged at the time that despite our efforts, the employee at issue chose to leave the company, where she had a bright future. ElevateBio is committed to providing a work environment that is free of any kind of bullying, discrimination, harassment, or other unlawful or unwelcome behavior. This commitment starts from the top, with our management team of world-class scientists, builders and operators. We champion the success of all of our employees, and strongly disagree that our employees experience such inappropriate behavior at ElevateBio: our workforce is extremely diverse, both culturally and in terms of backgrounds and gender. This is evidenced by not only our significant diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, but the makeup of our leadership team itself, which includes individuals across gender, color, religion, and creed, to name a few. As a function, Human Resources leads these efforts to support our employees in their critical work.

Pros

Cell and gene therapy is hot right now, great to be at a company in the space.

Cons

Few issues: 1. Organizationally too tranched for such a small company, should be flatter. Typically, a yellow flag when a small private company has so few communication channels. 2. Similar CRO business models have been tried before with little success. Why should a client give up more in their potential drug to work with Elevate? 3. Hiring has been a bit too hasty, maybe slow it down a bit to ensure best talent is coming on-board.

Pros

Pay is well above market and if you decide you want to live in misery working here you should at least milk them for all they're worth.

Cons

Where do I even start? The structure of the company is terrible and confusing. Separate umbrella companies within a larger company with minimal communication and teamwork between them. There is no unity and culture is nonexistent even for a supposed "biotech startup." The size of the company has nothing to do with the culture considering probably only 150 out of almost 400 employees come on site regularly. Management is ignorant to the issues and is only worried about finding more investors or partnerships with other biotech companies without worrying about internal problems and their own employees. High turnover even with the significantly higher than market salaries is a clear indicator of this. Nobody here has a sense of urgency or is trying to work hard to achieve a common goal. People (even some scientists and administration) come to work 2-3 days from 10-4 and call it a week. Some people are fine with that and those are the people that like it and stay at ElevateBio.
