Pros

The people are kind, competent, skilled, and helpful. This is true at all levels of the organization from the CEO to the directors to the program officers. The work and mission is meaningful and impactful.

Cons

The biggest issues is that staff is overworked. It is expected to work overtime during the weekday and sometimes over the weekend. I have taken administrative leave and vacation leave, and both times I was expected to work or was called to help assist with something. I know of other colleagues who also did the same thing. I don't recommend working here if you want a work-life balance. No administrative division/office, and it shows. Basic business processes are non-existent. Because of this, seemingly simple tasks and deliverables are difficult to follow. Matching 401 k only after a full-year or service with the ABA ROLI.

Pros

The people at ROLI are some of the best people I have worked with. They are an inspiring mission-driven group who are always willing to help each other navigate difficulties that may arise. There is a lot of bureaucracy but once you know what you're doing, it is fairly easy to skirt your way around it. Salary and career opportunities have become increasingly transparent thanks to the Deputy Director. ROLI Senior Management cares about the satisfaction of its employees.

Cons

Nearly everyone in ROLI is competent and kind. There are a few bad apples who can hinder your work and some directors who clearly lack international development experience.
