Pros
Insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield and the deductible is very low. At any opportunity, they feed you. There is a founders day celebration, meaning ABC celebrates Ken Hendricks' finding of the company from 1982. So annually and by district they get together and go somewhere like Main Event, all meet up, bring your family and get paid for it just to have fun. Christmas Parties is another fun event. I did like they went to E Logs and take that very seriously. They do not allow a driver to go past 14 hours without a 10 hour reset and during your shift, you must shut the truck down for 30 minutes. The bigger branches offer new equipment and they are not afraid to spend money to fix equipment. They also offer raises and annual bonuses. Paid Holidays and vacations also.
Cons
Pay is substantially less than the average, but keep in mind each branch is different. I was at $14 an hour. Raises, even though are offered, are not always great. The branch I was at gave workers.$0.50. Hours fluctuate. During the "on season", which is about end of March or somewhere in April, till about between September or October hours are long. 60 plus hours a week. The "off" season workers are struggling to get 40 hours. Time is key on deliveries. If you can't keep each stop to about 30 minutes and it continues as such, you could potentially be released. They do hire alot of workers during the "on season" only to release them during the "off season". Again each branch differs. But from my experience, it's the luck of the draw. Leaving in the morning, the trailers are loaded. After that, during the day, the driver has to sometimes locate the material and if the order is not built, you have to build it yourself then load it yourself. Drivers, if interested still in this company, let it be known that you are not just a driver. When there is no loads to be taken out, you have to work in the warehouse. Building orders, helping customer pickups, loading and unloading trucks and trailers.
