Pros
ACT offers decent salaries and a nice office in a central location. Most roles come with flexibility to work remotely. For those early in their careers, it can be a place to gain some experience in the environmental industry.
Cons
I've worked at ACT for several years now and unfortunately saw the culture decline over time. The company has a toxic environment where unhappy employees, poor leadership, and politics overshadow good work. Department heads are often hired based on fluffed up resumes rather than their ability to lead or support teams, resulting in low morale and high turnover. Bullying and unethical behavior are tolerated even though the CEO Colin Crooks is aware of every single incident. Serious incidents are often swept under the rug or met with a blind eye. Leadership tends to reward those who manage up rather than those who create real impact. With excessive bureaucracy and little accountability, ACT feels more focused on appearances than on people or performance. Despite its market position, it’s not a healthy or trustworthy place to grow your career.
