Pros
Upper Management (Specifically Dandan) - Whenever I have had a problem or concern and contacted support through email, Dandan has been very good at responding and trying to alleviate the problem immediately. For this I am grateful and want to commend ALO7for their speddy, efficient responses. GE Course Ware - The GE program is an amazing set of lessons that has a great balance of vocabulary, reading, grammar and fun activities. The students really enjoy this course ware and it is a great model to base other course ware off of. The openness to constructive cristicism/The Facebook group - Many companies shy away from having their employees (contractors) give feedback. ALO7 is showing a willingness to learn and improve from feedback which is vital for growth and success. ALO7 should be commended for this. Along with this is the newly formed facebook group which allows teachers to interact, share ideas, but also complain. This can be a tricky situation creating a public forum like ALO7 has done, but it is vital for success and the group is getting stronger everyday.
Cons
Compensation - After a bit of research and communicating with numerous online teaching companies I have found that ALO7 is at or near the bottom when it comes to compensation. Starting all teacher off at the same hourly wage and offering little to no incentive (until 500 completed classes) does not offer candidates much hope for potential future earnings. Also, a teacher with a masters degree in education and 5 years ESL experience does not deserve the same starting pay as a teacher currently completing an undergraduate degree. This rigidity in pay structure has caused me to not recommend ALO7 to friends and other potential teachers. I believe that a company gets what it pays for and without a change to the pay structure ALO7 will lose its competitive edge.
