Pros
They offer direct deposit, have semi clean facilities, & the electricity is currently on.
Cons
No Job security, constant layoffs or firings. The bills go unpaid, or run 90+ days late. Daily calls from vendors requesting payment. There is constant talk of money or lack there of in the office. They once brought up getting rid of the coffee for the employees in the office to save money. They have been selling off their equipment, & company vehicles (perhaps for the employee coffee fund). Company culture is such that employees are treated with little to no respect, and viewed as a liability instead of an asset. The company is rife with nepotism, and hourly employees are not paid for holidays, and vacation time is hard to come by. They the don't list your PTO balance on your pay check stub. Make sure you get the PTO time in writing, as well as all compensation ( there are tons of stories about employees not getting compensated what they were promised). The benefits offered are sub par. The health insurance is the minimum required by law, and very expensive. The 401k offering is a joke, there is no company match. You'd be better off setting up your own IRA or stuffing money under the mattress. Current & former employees are accused of stealing at a alarming rate. Most of the accusations involve stealing estimates. They have threatened to sue so many employees that it's a common occurrence to hear the owners speak about suing someone until they are broke. They eaves drop on employee phone calls, and management is very active in office gossip. Please note if you are working for Ampco contracting, and then told you are now working for Ampco north, you need to prepare yourself, because that's the abyss they send people to before they let them go. I once watched an employee get screamed at & spit on by one of the owners for a good 30 minuets. Another time, I witnessed the same owner try to start a psychical altercation with an employee. I've witnessed countless shouting matches & threats originate from that owner to many employees. That behavior is one of the most appalling things I've seen in an environment that was allegedly professional. I cannot state that enough.
