Pros
Good clients to be introduced to as an intern
Cons
Honestly, everything. Interns are put in the showroom for 8 hours a day to clean and scrub the stickers off the floors, top and middle management don’t acknowledge you, you’re placed alone on the back table (unless you’re lucky enough to suffer with another intern), being ignored by your mentors. Two weeks into a three month university internship I felt so anxious attending my internship, the experience felt like I’d re entered high school. It was like the devil wears prada but with literally none of the pros. Management would rather throw out dead stock or give it to the salary girls instead of offer the interns a singular thing. Truly, the most disappointing interning experience, I looked forward to it my entire degree. I watched the other two interns get invited to events with the team, while I asked numerous times to attend at least one event I’d been working on. It felt like favouritism but I wasn’t sure why.
