APTN is a great company to work for. It's a family atmosphere. The company has a strong social justice mission. It's dissapointing to see a really negative review on here, but in a small company nothing is really anonymous. If you are a person who spends your day playing on Facebook and Instagram, if you have a bad attitude and harass other staff, you will find yourself on the bad side of management, there's no doubt. For those of us who are team players, who show up everyday and take the work seriously, it is a highly supportive and fun place to be. I worked in the news where there was a strong vision that we needed to be independent, do high quality work that competes with other newsrooms and serve grassroots people. Investigative work was encouraged, and the boss will have your back on tough stories. Reporters get to pitch their own stories and travel is possible. You will need to learn how to multi-task to pull off the balance between daily news and longer term projects. Human resources gives awards and prizes to staff who do well at their jobs. They also arrange draws and contests and other fun stuff for staff. I left to pursue other dreams but I would not hesitate go back to work at APTN some day.

ne benefit I wish APTN offered was paid parking at the office. With the odd hours journalists work it would make life easier and safer The fun and games that are organized for headquarters in Winnipeg don't always work for the bureaus, and sometimes people feel left out You really have to hustle when news breaks and it's a small team so jobs are often combined and you have to multitask
