Pros

The ONLY pro to this company is the ability to work from home for employees outside of Houston.

Cons

1. Salary and benefits are the absolute lowest that I have seen in the Telecommunications Technology industry with regards to the specialized skills needed. 2. Career growth is at absolute 0. This is such a small company that there is no ability to move up in responsibility or leadership on any level. 3. It is a known company policy that there are no salary increases outside of what is originally offered, regardless of value to the company. 4. The only bonus opportunity is based 100% on sales figures, which can be adjusted to fit the CEO's desire to not compensate her staff. Every other company I have worked for offered a percentage of the bonus that is in the employees complete control, based on goals set at the start of the year. 5. C level managers refuse to staff appropriately for projects and workload, opting instead to pile more onto the small number of employees that they have and harass when the workload is not managed. 6. CEO and Sales staff continually try to obtain sales contracts that are out of their reach putting reputation and workload pipeline of the company in jeopardy. 7. In the past 12 months, the only VP level managers, the Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Sales have both left the company in very short order.

AVDS Response
11y
In response to the above review, AVDS has not employed a Senior Implementation Engineer in Houston who worked for us for more than 5 years during the time period referenced. The information about the bonus plan, growth options and salary increases is false. AVDS participated in Houston's Best and Brightest Companies to work for in 2015 independent survey. It was sent by them to all of our employees. 75% responded and we are one of the winning companies. The independent survey covered all aspects of the company, policies, pay, benefits, and culture to name a few. We are extremely excited to have won. AVDS has created a culture of mutual respect and trust from the top down and always looking for good people who would like to work in that environment.

Cons

Not a lot of room for growth into a management role because of the company's size.

Pros

I would not have been able to imagine that I could have such camaraderie and a feeling of 'family', with most of "the office" being remote. I am grateful for the flexibility and benefit of being able to work this way, as well as being close to several co-workers as if they've been with me at the next desk for the past 5 years! This is a company that certainly does value the employees, with innovative initiatives to encourage more interactions and bonding, as well as being responsive in general, to the needs and concerns of the employees. Also, many companies will claim an "open door policy" as it pertains to upper management, but how comfy are you with picking up the phone and talking to the President? Well, here you can, and I do, at least a few times a year. Going above and beyond is rewarded with both recognition, as well as monthly and yearly prizes. There is a business to run, and a desire to be the best, two things I can appreciate, and all the while employees know we are cared about. What more would a conscientious employee even really want from a work situation?

Cons

Any downsides I can think of would not be specific to AVDS, such as remote work feeling isolating for some and that sort of thing.
