Pros

Provided in-home tutoring to at-risk kids in the areas of reading and math. The students qualified for free tutoring under the No Child Left Behind Act. Flexible scheduling - mostly evenings and weekends. The company provided online material that could be used during the tutoring sessions, but there were no materials sent to me. The students were regularly assessed to monitor progress, and reports were submitted to both the families and the district. It was rewarding to see the growth in the student's confidence and skills. The families were very appreciative and gracious. I enjoyed working for this company.

Cons

The training was very short and basic. There was a tremendous amount of time spent preparing for tutoring sessions and completing reports. This time was not compensated. I was paid $20 for the tutoring session itself, but not for prep time or for completing reports. At the end of the school year, there was no further communication with the company. I assumed I would have to reapply the following school year, but I did not.
