Pros

Adaptive is an incredible place to work. This is going to be a glowing review, must my experiences every day truly make me very happy to work at Adaptive and content with my career. - Incredibly smart people work here. I feel confident that everyone on my team knows what they are doing and is doing it well. I learn from everyone around me and they learn from me. If anything this is the primary factor that makes this job so great. This goes for engineers, UX, product owners, project management. - In addition to being smart, the people are nice and easygoing. - My contributions are recognized, respected, and awarded. I am told if my work is valued, I am also told if there is something that could have been better. There is clear feedback. - You get to work with people from around the world - we have offices in Montreal, London, and Barcelona. Everyone I meet shows up to Zoom with a welcoming smile on their face looking forward to meeting you. - The technical challenges are very intellectually stimulating - we build sophisticated, robust, and interesting application for our financial services clients. We push the limits with the latest cutting-edge front-end tech. - I believe that I am paid at market value for my skill level in this industry. - Bench work (work while between clients) is well organized and focused on adding real value to the company. - The hybrid work model allows for lots of flexibility between working from home and coming into to the office as I please. - Great work/life balance.

Cons

- I must mention the consulting nature of the company, as others have, which is not inherently a con, but it does mean that for the most part, you will be working with clients on client systems on products for the client. This can be less exciting than working on something exciting in-house. That being said, Adaptive strives to ensure the work we do with clients is interesting/stimulating and managed by Adaptive, but often times PMs etc. will be from the client. - Along those lines, I think there is a challenge feeling well connected with colleagues across the company since people are often heads down on separate client engagements for long periods of time. This is especially true in a post-pandemic era in which I believe in general (not just at Adaptive) people bring themselves less personally to work. That being said, Adaptive is doing a lot to bring people together (weekly in-office breakfast, ~monthly happy hour, other in and out of office activities).
