Pros

Working at Advantage Data over the summer was a wonderful and insightful experience for me. If you want exposure into the world of fixed income and other financial securities, then Advantage Data is the perfect opportunity for you. Located in the heart of the city of Boston, you get the experience of a small office setting as you dive into the giant field of financial markets. Everyone at the company is so welcoming and supportive since the day you walk in and you get to work with live market data as you analyze and price a wide variety of financial instruments ranging from middle market, BDC, corporate bonds, North American and European high yield bonds, syndicated loans, and world government treasury bonds.

Cons

Really no cons of working here. Great place to learn and build a career.

Pros

Great exposure to fixed income securities industry and practical insight into databasing techniques and operations duties. You will be using spreadsheets, querying languages extensively to deal with data on syndicated loans and high yield corporate bonds. Accuracy and efficiency is expected of you, providing clients with incorrect data or being tardy is simply not an option. While the pressure to deliver is there, the office atmosphere is quite relaxed (laughs and smiles) and you are welcome and expected to approach for help. Open office floor will let you interact with with all developers, sales and account managers, operations analysts and the CEO himself constantly for help with the work and aid in skill development. The compensation is quite decent and the office helps you cut down costs by providing a well stocked kitchen with extensive deli selections for lunch along with the usual coffee and beverages. In conclusion, ADI will provide you with an oppurtunity for broad and deep learning, without making you feel like being another brick in the wall. You will see the bigger picture and the ambitions of the company and your output will matter. It's a small but significant company, and the office in the middle of downtown with some great views.

Cons

Not particularly a con, but a small company size (25-30) people does have it's limitation in terms of breadth of operations. For entry level employees, the work tends to get tedious, but you could expect new work with new projects every few weeks. It's part of the learning experience really, and one should embrace it.
