They just fired 100 or so devs/quants in London G-Research because they had too much knowledge of the old system and didn't want them to have new human capital of the new system. Do the math, they don't want to pay people so they keep people that they have complete power over or who stay docile and compliant. The sole owner of both companies wants to funnel as much money to himself as possible through these schemes and is doing it through various methods including the ones exposed above.
