Pros
The Aker Solutions I joined was a company I was proud to work for. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the company I left.
Cons
After 19.5 years with Aker Solutions across two countries, I discovered that my employment contract was little more than a piece of paper. After relocating internationally, the company refused to provide the dependent visas promised in my contract and, following my redundancy after more than 12 years in Malaysia, also refused to pay my contractual demobilisation allowance. Those contract breaches resulted in significant personal and financial hardship. The culture was highly political, with career progression often appearing to depend more on brown-nosing senior leadership than on performance or merit. In my experience, excessive office politics and favoritism created a toxic working environment. If you're considering Aker Solutions for long-term career security or because you expect the company to stand by its contractual commitments, my experience suggests you should think very carefully before making that decision.
