In my experience, I encountered verbal harassment, retaliation after raising concerns that leadership invited employees to share, and a lack of transparency. I observed behavior that felt passive-aggressive and inconsistent—saying one thing directly while acting differently behind the scenes.
I also felt that HR did not adequately address long-standing written complaints, particularly when the individual involved was more senior.
When leadership has the ability to affect compensation and benefits, fairness and accountability matter. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those values.
For a public service organization, I expected better.
