Pros
The only positive aspect of working at the Alley Theatre was interacting with colleagues who were not involved in the corporate side. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by working closely with the General Manager and the executive team.
Cons
At the Alley Theatre, my experience took a negative turn after the only other person of color on my team left. I was assigned her duties without being informed that this would come with additional responsibilities and no extra pay, despite being a part-time employee (20 hours a week - penalized for even an extra hour - even if I worked the extra hour). Though I was fired for reasons they couldn’t prove, I was awarded unemployment benefits. Since then, they’ve spent the last six months trying to take me to court with false claims. The organization lacks integrity and treats its best employees poorly once they stand up for themselves. When I raised concerns about the disparity between my contributions and compensation, I was harassed and sidelined until I eventually left. I never quit – I was fired without being shown any proof of the mistakes they claimed I made. Job so horrible I don’t care for people to know I ever worked there - I took them off of my resume.
