Pros

I currently work at AltaReturn, I am looking for another job, and read a recent review of a current employee who had nothing to complain about after three years of being here. This was such an attempt to try to fix the image of the company that isn't looking good on Glassdoor because they are having problems hiring or put himself in good graces of management because that is how management works here. I've just learned to keep quiet, bury my nose in my screen and do not attract attention to myself. I am not giving myself away because everyone learns that.

Cons

Management is very secretive but everyone talks anyway. It is so bad here that management had to have a closed door meeting with one of the most important senior managers in the company as she threatened to quit because she kept losing hard working knowledgeable people. "There is always someone cheaper to do the job" This made that senior manager's job so hard that they cant retain good people. Also those employees have to work after hours for their meager salaries as well. Everything here is done by force and intimidation. Like vacations? You must be available during because there are no backups. Chances are you will know what you do but no one else will.

As hard as it might be to imagine, we actually do care about our employees and want everyone to succeed. We don't believe our turnover is any higher than any other company our size - in fact, most of our employees, including senior managers, have been with us for many years. Regarding your first comment - we do not control who or what or employees post on Glassdoor. We are fortunate to have many employees that have had a positive experience working here and are of course happy when the express so. We do not coerce anyone to post positive reviews. We try to keep an open line of communication with our employees so if there are any particular issues you are experiencing, we encourage you to discuss them with your manager. We do listen.

Pros

I joined AltaReturn a year ago and I could not be happier with the decision. The company's technology is far more advanced than it's competitors and is able to compete on multiple levels because they offer integrated modules that add value to all of the teams that are vital to private equity, venture capital, real estate private equity and family office firms. These integrated applications help firms reduce potential errors related to accounting and investor relations as well as saving them tons of time that has traditionally been wasted moving from system to system or manually completing things. From all accounting entries including a true general ledger all the way to delivering distribution notices or capital calls to investors via automated email and/or investor portal while also allowing firms to track all potential investment opportunities and investors for fund raising activities. The system also enables our clients to get more from their data. All of the data is fed to a data warehouse that allows for easy professional quality reporting and ability to leverage Microsoft's Power BI for even more data sliding and dicing. The management team here has shown great leadership as well. They have a great long term vision for the path of the company but they also never lose site of the short term goals and do everything they can to support all of us in our day to day roles. They really enable and empower employees here to go out and do the best that they can each day.

Cons

The only negative I have encountered us that the system is so in depth and covers so many areas. We often have to bring in multiple teams from a firm because they realize that they are looking at a system that has value for more than just their individual team .

Pros

-some cool, good-natured people at low levels -good office location -good if you are fresh out of school and need to start at the bottom for something to put on the resume and then run to something that is bearable.

Cons

-training consists of throwing people in the deep end. if you are new and need help everyone is so overloaded with work they are frustrated to stop and help. if you need help they treat it as if you are incapable. they do not grow people, you are thrown to the wolves and if you can survive long enough to maintain then that is their growth culture. -pay is very sub par, not competitive at all especially considering the work environment/culture -there is ABSOLUTELY no positive culture. its a quiet stuffy office full of a handful of quiet stuffy superiors and then the remainder is meek lower level employees trying to maintain a semblance of sanity with the insane workload and being treated like a robot.

We are disappointed that your time here was negative. One of the reasons why we ARE having long-term success is that we DO have truly happy employees. Sometimes there is a cultural mis-match between employee and employer, so ,yes, then it can be best for both parties to move on. We work in a very competitive, fast-paced industry and it is not for everyone. (we also have yet to hire our first robot, nor do we want to)
