Pros

Trips to Florida and Tennessee

Cons

Work Env- home office (HO) constant yell at DM's/Store Leaders(SL)-such an issue brought up at leader conf w/ HR, nothing done; contradictions between HO VPs - one says put "X" on perf plan, other "X” is most prod leader, Commun severely lacking; comp puts profit above people, no care for emp - many days no breaks, no break rooms (sit in hall on rickety chairs/on floor); work 50+ hrs/wk, 7 days/wk; not "Great Place to Work"- is con, based on # of responses even if responses are negative Shipment- no detailed view, in prev jobs could see what’s coming to prep (boxes/contents), floormoves waste of time, get wall set only to have unexpected delivery, redo all, next day get more, triple work is standard; floorset should be sched once ALL prod arrives; scale ship to 2-3/wk Hiring/Turnover- survey req to work here; no one could generate leads, even HR/recruiters, if recruiters were doing their job where were people, recruiters waste store/DM time sending unqualifieds (no degree), HO blame DM/VDM; comp started rule assts/above req to have 4yr degree, yet some in HO don't, HO said, “we only want quality candidates” imply those w/o deg are not, high turnover, when does comp stop saying, "you're not right" and start looking at themselves, proper staff needed to provide work-life balance that you don't get here VM Shifts- no FT (split with few hours VM, few selling/ship), doesn't work esp with daily ship Buying- most buyers were SL who comp thought would work; don't buy collections, buy on whim; stores get coats/sweaters in May, are req to put out, no rhyme to buying, extremely hard to merch, invest in degreed Buyers with certifications/past exp; label prod on tag ex. boho, make floorset easier, save hours; online/store merch need same name, confusing to cust/assoc Merchandising- merch to ceiling, cust can’t access, when 2-3 people working (bc comp doesn't know how to allocate hours), missed sales/high conversion, prod should be <7’ Installs- DM/VDM purchase stores window/floorset, HO should be bidding visual items to save comp money w/ bulk order/ship, stores should buy own materials with store credit card; DM/VDM schedule stores hotel/travel, stores should be responsible; when doing overnight installs air shut off so it’s HOT Phones- filled with static, must carry around, conf calls are hard, invest in Cisco Stockroom- hard to receive pallets when filled with shipment that arrives same day, safety/time mgt issue, comp needs to sched ship on opp days, constant block fire exits, hang merch on pipes on ceiling; bathroom doors don’t close, bathroom used as storage for merch/boxes, water fountains don’t work, VM stored props on lofts above office with no floors. Hazards everywhere, HO never fixed Product- want to be boutique then learn to merch/buy, rails crammed with prod isn't boutique/cust friendly, HO emp push rail to 1 side and say, "look at all this room!" get mad it’s not maxed out, not how merchandising works, make prod look/feel special sales will increase; elevate standards -every store looks diff because people all interpret diff, what one finds Boho another finds Romantic, every store shouldn't be so diff Travel- per diem VERY low for hotel/food, must share room Clock In/Out- salaried mgrs must, shocked if you knew reason; have over hour long convos with HO about missed punches, so bad HO said miss 3 you're fired regardless of perf/tenure Training- given a color/draw book/videos to watch, only works for 1 type of learner; asked for training many times, never got answers, was asked, "what exactly do you think you need training on?" Everything, I was thrown in to chaos Schedule- HO expects sched 2 weeks out but don't follow advice, call day before to say they’re coming, expect all to rearrange sched/get mad if not, show compassion to your people, micro-managers, constant pushback on sched, don’t trust stores/DM/VDM Rules- constant confusion from lack of, comp built on chaos, DM/VDM say one thing, HO something else, comp MUST have top down buy in to work, DM/VDM can't make rules for districts if HO overrides; monthly floorset Inconsistencies with HO, one directive says X, one says Y bc 2 diff HO groups send out diff mailings, get on same page Job Resp- blurred line b/t jobs, if you’re VM then focus on VM, not processing shipment/Ops Mgr job, you hired them for diff roles let them do it, clearly defined roles needed, 2 roles are sep by nature, diff areas of study, attempting to merge roles shouldn’t be best practice Benefits- low pay in stores (hard to hire outside comp, can’t pay what they prev made), 401k needs imp, pet insurance better than health ins, maternity just added last year, not about people here Conf Calls- 1/mth have all store call with HO, try to be nice, never succeed, always negative comments to stores; HO told us to go to Glassdoor to leave positive review cause of so many negative. HO needs ethics class Read all of the horrible reviews you have on the company and put a plan into action based on those reviews. That should literally be your only focus for 2021

Pros

Literally nothing, can’t think of one positive thing

Cons

I’ve been with the company for years and watching its continuous downfall has become almost comical. Two years ago we took major pay cuts (like 15%) because of the economy but this year they sent us to the Virgin Islands on this over the top meeting that must have cost a fortune. I’d rather have the money in my bank versus a trip I was forced to go on with senior leadership that are absolute horrific people in general and evil businesses people. It all felt like a big propaganda event with tons of videoing and picture taking so they could come home and post all over linked in and social media about how WONDERFUL it is to work there. Don’t even get me started on the new Little House on the Prairie denim dresses we have to wear because they hire managers that aren’t even strong enough to coach to a dress code. How can you run a store if you can’t even tell someone what they’re wearing inappropriate? Instead now we look like a bunch of little followers of the cult everyone already says it is. As long as we say we “stand out for good” at every opportunity it must mean it’s true right? To know who else brainwashed people into thinking bad things are good for them? CULT LEADERS.
