Pros
The staff recruiter sure knows how to find talented people. The Site Directors are super talented team of woman. One better than the next. They are the real leaders at America Works. They are the truly inspiring bunch who lead by example and get their teams all rowing in the same direction with absolutely NO assistance from the Executive Team (CEO, CFO, COO). Good luck getting out!
Cons
So yes, the talented people come in and expect to do what they were hired to do (manage, direct, sell, whatever). This will NEVER happen. The micro-management of the CEO herself and the lack of good leadership to challenge her (CFO and COO catering to the whims of “ownership”) poisons the well at this place so deep that I recommend you AVOID it. Nepotism has them rotting from the inside out. Those in the inner circle will take full credit for your ideas, passing them off as their own and are quick to blame everyone else for their shortcomings and inadequacies. Sadly, they will never be held accountable for the mistakes that they make. Everyone sees their incompetence as it is highlighted while you witness betrayals and childlike finger pointing all day long. The best is when the CFO calls the CEO a “micro manager” outright behind her back or when the COO shrugs and shakes his head admitting fully that “she just doesn’t get it” and “sorry, I can’t help you” or "Dr. Bowes signs the checks." It is either pathetic or part of brilliant “3 STOOGE SCHTICK” where the CEO plays bad cop and the other two play good cops. Forget having the technology that you need in any office outside of NY. The one ray of hope we had for good tech was removed for being the only one with gumption to challenge executive decisions regularly. So yeah, don’t offer your good opinions on how to improve process or give employees a piece of equipment that is actually less than 10 years old. That just won’t fly. My favorite DECEPTION from prior (PAID) reviews is the “open door policy” boasted about...did I mention that the CEO personally paid for those reviews? Yeah, you can go into her office and freeze to death while she sits on her throne. Every second that you spend in that office has you asking yourself: “how did I get here and when did I agree to sell my soul?” Unless you are her daughters, don’t expect her to treat you with a shred of decency. Oh, and the CEO will look at your emails and poke around on your computer’s browsing history whenever she wants. So use your home computer to leave your bad Glassdoor review. This way, when the witch hunt begins to find the user who left this review, you will be in the clear!
