Pros
- supportive environment - decent benefits - technical folks can advance in technical roles, don't have to reach a dead end if they don't become managers of others. - mostly the company seems to "get it" that its people are its most valuable asset. - stable: no huge swings of growth and shrinkage of workforce.
Cons
- management uneven. Sometimes a brilliant engineer isn't a great leader or manager. - tight budget control can make it very difficult to hire the right person at the right time.
