Pros

As a small but growing company, there’s a lot of work to go around at AnalysisWorks. For me, that has meant being able to come into the industry and significantly grow my career and my role within the company in a matter of years. It also means there’s a lot of autonomy to not only get stuff done, but also take on the kind of work that interests you. I’ve also been extremely impressed with how much management genuinely cares about their staff. Smaller companies don’t have the red tape you find elsewhere, so the management team has a lot of flexibility to show that they care about you as both an employee and a person, and they look for opportunities to do so. Even though the workload can be high, in my experience, if management gets the smallest sense that I’m feeling overwhelmed, they do everything they can to support me, even if that means working extra hours themselves.

Cons

This place is filled with perfectionists with very high expectations, and given that a lot of the work is bespoke, we’re often tweaking things as we go. There is also just not enough time to spend months training new hires on each task. If you’re the kind of person who prefers a slow ramp-up, with really defined expectations, this is probably not the place for you. But if you’re the kind of person that enjoys learning on the fly, working with ambiguity, and constantly pushing yourself to be better and better, this is a really great place take your career.

Pros

I have really appreciated that the team looks to support those around them. I have heard countless times "Hey - its the end of the day. What can I do to help you in getting out of here on time". And, when someone offers help, and you accept it, they actually follow through and deliver. I have also appreciated that everyone participates in reviewing the company's on-going priorities everyday. These are used to allocate work and for progress updates. And, if someone identifies that they need help getting a task to the finish line, the team will quickly look at ways to support that person. Notably, I also appreciate how the pay structure is set up. I am paid because of my performance and not for my credentials. The adjustments I have received have been more than fair ever since I started.

Cons

I really like the culture at AnalysisWorks, but I know it's not for everyone. Feedback can be direct, but it always focuses the task itself, and doing it well. There are times where delegated tasks can seem ambiguous. Our project leads do great work in communicating their vision and parameters, but we also expect the person who is completing the work to make sure they communicate what they need to do a great job! Inevitably, this means everyone needs to communicate openly. This can take be challenge at times, but it really supports our ability to deliver awesome work.

Pros

Management involve everyone in the strategy planning of the company and provide weekly updates on company developments. This creates a great sense of involvement and allows you to see how your work is making a difference. No two projects are the same, so there are always new exciting learning opportunities. Management generally assign you to work based on your strengths, but are very open to giving you a chance to grow in other areas, providing you with mentoring as needed. Great training is provided by the more senior team members. There is also a really good open feedback culture, so that you continue to learn every day. Management are incredibly supportive of work life balance. There are daily team check-ins to review priorities and share workload across the team to make sure no one is being overly stretched. There is a fantastic team ethos where everyone supports each other to get things done.

Cons

This is consulting, so work is deadline driven and can get very busy at times but the processes are there to help manage team workload. A very high standard of work is expected. Multiple iterations are often required and while this can initially be frustrating it helps you to develop a habit of getting things right first time.
