Pros

- Great people on the whole although some old-schoolers can be cliquey and unwelcoming. - Was in the golden time of pre-IPO, food selection on offer was amazing and always loads organised. Post-IPO this changed dramatically for the worse - which is alright as it was sometimes excessive but then stop selling yourself as a place with all these benefits.. -Trusted with your own workload, no helicopter managing. - Product is really interesting and defo a game changer, lots to learn and get your head around which I found fulfilling (although tough). - Some really approachable managers in my own experience that were on my side and appreciative of what I did, although I’m aware this isn’t the case for everyone.

Cons

- Super over complex processes, which make no sense and that no one questions. Seems some of these were written 10 years ago when the company was 5 people in a shed in Yorkshire, and haven’t been changed since. - Sometimes left too much to own devices, in that you’re waiting ages for approvals and feedback (and due to the way it’s structured you can’t get away with not getting these). - Creeping Americanisation/sheen-isation of things worldwide, which doesn’t go down so well in other locations. See Frank’s slack channel as an example

Pros

One thing I genuinely appreciated was that the C-suite seemed invested in keeping everyone in the loop. The monthly town halls felt like more than just a formality and gave you a real sense of where the company was headed. When you had a good stretch, people noticed. The company feels like it has real momentum and on a macro level.

Cons

Leadership was inconsistent in my experience and seemed to depend heavily on which manager you ended up with. It often felt like luck of the draw. I personally found the planning process to be more reactive than strategic, with urgency only kicking in once results were already suffering rather than getting ahead of it. The workplace culture also had a gossip element that I found draining over time. My biggest frustration was around performance recognition. I observed situations where reported numbers didn't seem to reflect reality, yet the consequences appeared minimal at best. I would have liked to see more transparency and accountability around how top performers were identified and rewarded, because in my experience the current approach didn't always feel equitable to those who were playing by the rules.
