Pros

Benefits are great, and as one past colleague told me - "Everyone just walks around and talks to each other, I don't know how anything gets done...my kind of place."

Cons

Don't expect to move into higher level positions, and forget about training and refining your skills. You will not be prepared to move your career into a higher level after working here. Look at some of the LinkedIn profiles of past employees and you will see what I am talking about. Argus claims to have offices all over the world, but some of those offices only have two employees. Management will never tell you the truth, or anything that they have planned. They do not care about your input. It is very questionable how mid-level managers made it to their positions - nothing impressive and a lot of hubris. Many of the people I met at the company do not come from very reputable or strong academic backgrounds. Also, many of the people come from very very random industries that have nothing to do with what they are selling/reporting. In fact, most of the sales people are pushing products they know absolutely nothing about, and the people writing the reports/products, know absolutely nothing about the markets (they try to tell the industry what to be focusing upon) - it is amazing people buy their services - Platts and IHS are much better. So if you want a low-wage job, a place where no one will value your input, managers who think they know everything but don't, no transparency, no opportunity to move up or become trained, a group of colleagues that are not very knowledgable about their industries of focus or well educated - then Argus is your place...Don't waste your time with this company. They are way ahead of themselves and don't have the right managers in place, and refuse to hire talent.

Pros

Great teammates with high standards and low egos. Compensation isn’t competitive, so top performers often move on. The medical insurance, though, is excellent.

Cons

Management: Severely disconnected. A strict “3 days in office” rule is tracked via weekly attendance reports, yet the Head of North America works fully remote after moving away from Houston. Compensation: Senior-level pay is well below the Houston market. Repeated promises to make salaries competitive have been half-measures (think bottom 10% range). Hours: Expect meetings to be scheduled irrespective of your actual working hours.
