Pros
Supportive company culture, senior staff are approachable. All staff were really looked after during Covid. My personal manager and the general manager were always helpful when it came to days off or day to day questions. I was offered the opportunity to be trained into an espresso technician including subsidising my study. Some great opportunities for someone wanting to work in the coffee industry.
Cons
Much more was expected of me than implied in my job title. I was employed as a barista but what I ended up being was a duty manager (opening and closing the cafe) an espresso sales person (talking to people about the coffee machines we sell and making sales) as well as somewhat of a receptionist (booking in repairs or services for the workshop). I don't believe I was paid a rate suitable for these extra responsibilities. Also there was no commission or incentive scheme for the many thousands of dollars I helped bring through selling machines. Constantly understaffed in the workshop as well which lead to a very slow turn around for customer's getting their machines repaired and very tough on the 1 technician we had in store.
