Pros
I'm a ten year employee that was a huge advocate of Avalonbay. I was proud to work for this company. Avalon lives customer service with our residents and they took this same approach with associates. That has drastically changed.
Cons
Avalonbay prides itself on inclusion and diversity but they do not practice what they preach. They implemented numerous operational changes during the pandemic. Our onsite teams showed up and ran our properties safely. We didn't have the luxury of sitting behind a keyboard working from home. We were told in late 2021 that we can no longer safely operate our communities unless we were vaccinated. Avalonbay received numerous exemption requests, I was told over 130 from HR including mine. The company denied almost all citing that they would create an undue hardship to the business from a financial standpoint. Employees are just a number and this is just a job.
