Pros
- Friendly working environment - Nice coworkers (usually) - Completely remote work - If you're lucky enough to be managed by someone good you will benefit greatly from their mentorship and experience - The management has a direct say in the hiring process and personally interview all candidates, which is nice. It gives you the vibe of a startup with the benefits of a small corporate.
Cons
- Less pay compared to the rest of the market - Working completely remote makes one feel isolated and out of loop sometimes - Career path is sometimes unclear - If you're unlucky you can spend years on end in a dying project with repetitive tasks - No real trainings or involvement in the management - Nonexistent HR department, I have experienced firsthand situations that were dire and truly awful on a personal level but I could not file an HR complaint because they will take no serious actions or preventative measures to protect their employees.
