Pros
I had an amazing manager that wanted nothing more than to see me learn and grow. My team was awesome and because I was an engineer, I had some special opportunities not given to other employees. The coworkers were overall very kind, chatty, and friendly. No one was "above" me and everyone was an equal. Even though the only real "free food" was coffee, people were generous and often brought snacks and food.
Cons
The biggest one? The company is going downhill financial-wise. I was laid off after 6 months which left me jobless and in the dust with only 1 month severance and a pamphlet on how to apply for EDD.
HR is basically non-existant, not much diversity, and unless you are a manager or a manager of a manager, you are kept in the dark about all company politics. SO underpayed and their excuse is that they are in Richmond. Manangers are great but there is only so much they can do and higher-ups, particularly CEO, makes all decisions, even on a small scale. Yeah, if I had known better, I would not have accepted the job despite the positives.
