Pros
Here is the only positive about this place. If you are a recent grad or someone who wants to work in International Logistics, then this place is decent for entry level work. If you are a hard worker and smart, you will learn quickly. Since all levels of mgmt provide little support, you will be challenged to figure things out on your own (sink or swim). This is actually good, because after a few years, you will have a good skill set that makes you attractive to competitors or clients. Only stay for a max of two years, then move on to a competitor or clients staff
Cons
- No room for advancement. First thing you notice is all managers are either family or friends of the owners or have worked there for 20+ years. the 20+ years are friends of the original owner and just slack around doing meaningless jobs. - There is absolutely NO training. No instructions, no manuals, no guidance. Just sit with someone else for two weeks, then you are on your own. - There is no Employee Development. They take advantage of your skill sets and talent you come to the company with, but have no desire to improve their workers. You basically stay in the position you were hired for. - Pay grades are much lower than industry standards. Probably 30% below. - Raises are minimal. Usually they stick with 2% a year. - Benefits are expensive, and they change companies every year. 401k match is only 1% with eight years to fully vest. - HR department is only there to protect Management. If you have an issue with a manager, HR will suggest you leave the company After a few months working there you will notice all upper and middle levels of management are either relatives or friends. Everyone else usually has less than 3 years experience. If you are career oriented, this is not a good place to look.
