Pros
The security of working for the Bank is fairly well known within the financial district of New York. In fact, it seems a large percentage of the workers are what some circles would label, "lifers". Furthermore, this is one of the nine banks awarded a piece of the bailout money and hence deemed necessary by the US for the financial health of the nation. In these tumultuous times and despite the recent announcement of layoffs, its a fairly safe harbor.
Cons
It seems that a fair number of employees of the bank don't do well at their jobs and just do the bare minimum to keep it. In fact, with all the extraneous reporting forced upon its employees, the Bank actually encourages wasting of time. It may sound odd but this is one of those private institutions most like working for the government; politics and favors rules the roost here. It's horribly depressing, actually.
