Pros
I enjoy working at BNY Mellon. There is a a good work/life balance and my colleagues are friendly and professional. I feel the salaries are fair, and the benefits are good (but not great). It's a stable company that has done comparatively well in the recent financial downturn.
Cons
The biggest downside is the lack of financial awards for top performers. I feel the company does not satisfactorily identify the top performers and reward them accordingly. Over time you loose the incentive to do something amazing, because management does not seem to notice. I think the bonus pool is not sufficiently weighted to the top performers, but is distributed too evenly across all employees, regardless of performance. People tend to work here for a long time. This says something good about the company, but it can also reduce advancement opportunities. You have to look and work and ask for advancement in this company, and it doesn't come quickly.
