This company is willfully destroying any reason to be an employee here - Senior-level Business Systems Analyst BNY Employee Review

Pros

Only work from home. Starting in 2023 the 401k has a major change (company max 7% match will only be deposited in lump sum the following year). This is a definite item to force employees to leave.

Cons

Many, many, many of these. Too many to discuss. Main issues are that the company does not want America-based employees. Every chance provided, BNY will shift jobs to India. Movement within the company is non-existent for me. I have stated this many times in the bi-weekly employee survey. As a long-term employee - one would think that I could get internal interviews. NO. Not for many years. I have complained about this many times to upper-management. Only one upper-level manager has listened. But, what can be done? I was told of changes coming - but nothing occurred.

Pros

There is real opportunity for career and skill growth. The company runs short on head count, so people willing to take on more responsibilities have avenues to progress. However, you will need to force the issue for promotions & large salary increases after you prove your capabilities. Realistically it'll take an external counteroffer to move the needle.

Cons

It's a large bank and you're a number in the system. If your NPV is positive you'll stay, else you'll be laid off. This includes both scenarios you control and those you don't. Ex. You control your performance, in office time and networking You don't control if your location is a strategic growth site, if a major client goes with a competitor, or if you'd be impacted by a general company-wide layoff plan.
