Pros
I have worked at Babington coming up 4 years now and have seen a lot of change. Previous Exec team caused a lot of issues and some of which are still being worked through now. However since they have moved on things are really heading in the right direction. Quality and compliance are at the forefront of decision making with a real focus on doing things for the right reason and ensuring we have the right learners coming onto the right programmes. The business is a business at the end of the day so of course we are here to make money, However a lot of decisions have been made that has stopped us being a bums on seats provider including stopping working with bad employers and ceasing working in certain sectors. Work is continuing to improve the quality and front line staff are being consulted with to help support the improvements. The CEO has a real people focus and the business has recently gone through a successful Ofsted and funding assurance review. This means they are well thought of with the funding authorities and success rates continue to improve through all the good work. I have noticed some negative comments but a forum like this is often used by people that feel aggrieved and may have left the business. My personal view is that 3-4 years ago it wasn't a great place to work but those looking to join now are joining at the best time now all the improvements have been made and the right people are in charge. Flexible working is a big positive and the autonomy to manage your own diary and home working is a great perk especially with having a young family.
Cons
Pay and benefits could be improved but I know this is currently being reviewed. Being investor owned means targets are strictly monitored and underperformance is acted upon quickly. If you are not used to this environment you may struggle. Currently very top heavy with lots of roles that are not making an impact on the business. This causes frustrations with the wider teams who are putting the work in.
